Act II, Scene 3

Jewish friar Aohiki strolled through the graveyard behind her temple, carrying a basket, and picking flowers. "Look how the burning, rising sun streaks the skies." She said, looking up at the sky. "Oi! It burns!" Friar Aohiki shielded her eyes and looked back at the basket she was holding. "I must get back to schlepping now. Hana, hana, hana! So beautiful, yet deadly. Just a taste of this one could make you plots. Ah, but this hana has great heeling qualities. How creation is so amazing. I could shpeil about it all day!"

Just then, Touya ran around the edge of the temple and started walking towards Aohiki. "Good morning, Aohiki!" he called.

"Up at this hour, dear Touya? Young men who sleep do not wake so early. And young men sleep easily for their minds are not troubled. You, a young man, obviously did not sleep, due to your early wake. Therefore, your mind must be troubled." Aohiki paused and took a breath. "Where the hell were you?! You are goin' to give me a heart attack!"

"I was up all night. But not because of a troubled mind." Touya replied with a horny smile.

Aohiki's eyes grew wide. "You weren't with Hikaru, were you?" she said as she covered her mouth.

Touya shook his head. ("Screw that bitch, no actually, don't, she won't like that.") "With Hikaru? No." he smiled. "I forgot that name long ago."

"Oi. Good, good. Don't scare me like that again. So where were you?" Aohiki sighed.

"I have been feasting with my enemy." Touya said proudly. "And there, one had wounded me, and I her with cupid's arrow. The cure for both of us lies in your help and medicine. I bear no hatred, for my petition is in aid of my enemy as well as of myself."

Aohiki stared blankly as Touya for a second, and then opened her mouth to speak. "I am but a humble Jewish friar, my son. I beg of you to repeat yourself in simple terms, or in Hebrew."

"Well, basically, I am in love with the daughter of rich Capulet, and she loves me too. And we want you to marry us today." Touya said, pleading.

"Well that just proves all men are so shallow! It was not too long ago when tears streaked your face for Hikaru. My ancient ears still ring with your sighs of woe. No, men love with their eyes. How they need to learn so much to love with their hearts."

Touya backed away a bit as Aohiki gave him a guilt trip. "You scold me for loving Hikaru?"

"Not for loving, boy," Aohiki said, glaring. "For being a playboy."

Touya continued as if he hadn't been interrupted. "And tell me to bury love."

"Just don't bury it in one of my graves! It shall ruin the soil and make my hana sick, just as you are." Aohiki replied, just as snide as Touya.

Touya crossed his arms. "I ask of you, do not scold me. The one of I love now does love me as well. Hikaru did not."

Aohiki sighed. "But she did know you loved her." She then gasped. "I had the greatest idea, though! Though I am reluctant, I shall help you. This marriage could stop this family feud between the Montagues and Capulets."

Touya smiled. "That's it! But please, I insist on haste."

"Be wise." said Aohiki. "Those who run fast most often stumble, unless you are a professional track runner. Now, run along, bubbala!"
