Act V, Scene 1

Touya walked around in his new little house. (Fully dressed, thank you very much, Michi.) He was making breakfast for himself, and was in a very cheerful mood. "I had a wonderful dream last night." he said to no one in particular. "I had died, and my love came and kissed life into my lips." Touya smiled to himself. "Such a good dream.

Just then, there was a knocking at the door. Touya opened it to his servingman, (dun dun da nun nun) Kurama. Kurama walked in and bowed to Touya. Touya smiled again. "What news, Kurama? Any letters from Aohiki? How is my father? What about Keikou? For nothing can be ill if she is well." Touya asked eagerly.

Kurama looked at him with grief in his eyes. "Then she is well, and nothing can be ill. Her body sleeps in Capulet’s monument. I saw her laid there and ran here as soon as I could. I apologize for bringing you this news, but you did leave it as my duty, sir."

Touya stared at him in disbelieve. Kurama bowed his head down. "Kurama, get me paper and ink, and hire me horses. I am going to se her."

"I do ask you, sir, have patience." Kurama disagreed. "You look pale and may do something you may regret..."

"Do what I asked!" Touya demanded with cold eyes filled with sadness. "Do I have no letters from the friar?" Kurama shook his head. "Oh well, go hire those horse! I’ll be there soon." Kurama sighed and left. Touya waited until he was gone. "Damn this! Why one so fair? Damn the stars!" He stopped and looked out a window. "I remember there was an apothecary around here..." He quickly ran out of his house and down the road until he reached a small hut/shop, and knocked on the door.

The door creaked open, and the apothecary, Takani Megumi, looked at him. "What do you want?" she asked. Her face was tired and thin, and had the looks of someone who’d been through a lot. Her clothes were old and shabby, and had many stains.

"Come on, I see that you are poor." Touya pulled money out of his pocket, and offered it to megumi. "Here, forty gold coins. Do you have a draught of poison, the which would kill a man instantly?"

Megumi looked at him tiredly. "I do have such deadly drugs, but Mantua’s law gives death to any who sell them."

"But you need this money, else you, yourself may not live." he offered her the money again.

Megumi sighed. "My poverty, but not my will consents."

"Then I pay your poverty, and not you will." He offered the money again.

She looked at the gold for a moment, then sighed. "Fine." she agreed. She walked inside her hut, then returned with a small vial, handing it to Touya. "Put this in any liquid and drink it, and it will kill you immediately, no matter how strong you are."

Touya took the vial and gave Megumi the money. "You may have sold me poison, but money is the true poison of men’s souls." he bowed. "Thank you, farewell, buy yourself food. Get better." Touya then walked away from the hut to go meet Kurama to ride back to Verona.
