Episode 2: A Goddess Revealed

     Urameshi Yusuke is on a new case. Koenma has assigned him and his team to protect a goddess, Kiragi Aohiki, the Green Goddess of Wisdom, from an unknown danger. Also, there are two strange exchange students from America who seem to be… well, strange! Duh! I should have left when I could! But my stupid flight was canceled! I need a serious vacation from this job! Permanent! Yes! The narrator then went into insane laughter, as he had obviously lost it.

     Hana ran down the street, panting heavily. "That was too close…" She stopped to catch her breath.

     "I love telekinesis!" Mitsukai said as she floated half an inch above the ground, though it appeared she had been running. She looked at Hana. "Want me to help you? I can you know, I have enough energy."

     Hana smiled. "That would be wonderful! Thank you! I feel the Jagan Eye coming closer every second at the most incredible speed!" She glanced back as the sun started to set.

     Mitsukai raised her hand and Hana floated an inch above the ground. "Can we go up? Please?" She pointed toward the sky. "Where they can’t see us! Where they can’t catch us!"

     "Let’s go!" Hana agreed. Mitsukai looked toward the sky and they flew up above the buildings.

     "Ah! Much better!" Mitsukai called with a smile on her face. She spun around a few times in the air, as they floated over the buildings. A tall building came up and they began to float over it.

     A black figure suddenly appeared and grabbed Hana’s ankle. "Where are you going?" He asked as he began to pull her down to the rooftop.

     "Let go!" Hana struggled and turned to look back up at Mitsukai. "Mitsukai-chan!" Mitsukai had already dropped down unto the rooftop and jumped at the black figure. She attempted to kick him in the face. He just darted out of the way, dragging Hana onto the roof as well.

     Mitsukai tried to kick the black figure again, but someone jumped out of the shadows and grabbed her arms. He held them behind her back so she couldn’t hit him. "Let go of me!" She tried to pull her arms out of his grip. Damn! That guy is messing with my telekinesis! She thought. "Let go!"

     Hana wriggled her foot out of the black figure’s grip and jumped up. She threw her hands in front of his face. "Stop it!" The figure found himself in a green bubble. Hana swung her hand around to face the guy holding Mitsukai. He suddenly let go and a bubble formed around him as well. Hana ran over to Mitsukai. "Are you alright Mitsukai-chan? He didn’t hurt you or anything?"

     Mitsukai stood up and pulled a seed out of her arm. "A paralysis plant…" She mumbled as she looked back at the guy who had held her back.

     The black figure was banging his fists against the inside of the bubble. "What the hell is this? I can’t get out!"

     "Stop struggling Hiei, neither can I… heh." He chuckled softly.

     "We found our Goddess!" Botan exclaimed as she, Yusuke, and Kuwabara ran onto the rooftop from a stairwell.

     Yusuke was just staring. "…Hiei… Kurama… what the hell are those?" He pointed at the bubbles.

     Kuwabara was, once again, cowering under Mitsukai’s glare. "Eeep…!"

     Mitsukai stood in front of Hana and blocked her from the rest. Hana put her hand on Mitsukai’s shoulder and shook her head. She then raised her ankle and started rubbing it. "Wow, Hiei. That was… great! You managed to sense me, pluck me out of mid-air, and all that without being detected by Mitsukai-chan or me!" Hana told the black figure, Hiei, with a smile.

     "Hn! Flattery won’t get you anywhere goddess! All this time, I thought you were important to this world’s safety. But the whole time, you were just a stupid, bubble-headed ningen girl!" Hiei yelled at her though his bubble.

     Mitsukai glared at him. Hana ignored him, and turned to talk to Kurama. "You too, Kurama. You managed to grab Mitsukai-chan and mess with her telekinesis. That’s pretty good." She smiled at him as well.

     That one has the Jagan Eye… Mitsukai thought as she continued to glare at Hiei.

     "I’m sorry for hurting you, if I did." Kurama said to Mitsukai, as the bubble around him disappeared. "By the way, my name is Kurama." He bowed to her.

     Mitsukai glanced at him, and temporarily stopped glaring. Then turned back to Hiei, and glared at him.

     "Hn!" Hiei crossed his arms and glared equally as hatefully at Mitsukai, as she was glaring at him. His bubble also disappeared.

     "Now, apologize to Hana-chan!" Mitsukai yelled at him, with her arms crossed, as well. He just glared back. Damn yokai!

     Damn ningen! Hiei thought as he glared. Kurama just smiled with a slight sweat drop. "Hiei…"

     "Must I put you back in your bubble, Hiei?" Hana asked as she held up her hands towards him. Hiei glared death at her. "Fine!" she turned back to Botan. "You caught us. Let me re-introduce myself. My name is Lee Hana, and this is my best friend, Takai Mitsukai-chan. We are American exchange students." She smiled, as she always did.

     "What happened to the name Kiragi Aohiki, and having special reiki, and all that crap?" Yusuke asked, annoyed.

     "I’M GETTING THERE!" Hana yelled at him. She cleared her throat. "Ahem! Anyway, I’m known in Reikai as Kiragi Aohiki. I have two main jobs. I look after ningen wisdom and knowledge, and I also represent Earth in an alliance of the Solar System’s planets. And this is my body guard and best friend, Mitsukai-chan." She let down her hair, and her goddess tail popped out.

     "W-wow…" Was all Kuwabara could say as he drooled.

     Mitsukai stopped glaring at Hiei, and turned to the rest. "Yeah, so don’t any of you think for even one second that Hana-chan needs anymore than my help! So why don’t you all just leave right now!" She yelled at them. Aohiki shook her head.

     "I wish! But Pacifier breath and Paddle girl here made me! First Four Holy Beasts, now protecting Goddesses!" Yusuke said in agreement with Mitsukai.

     Mitsukai held up her hand and Yusuke fell over as if he had been smacked. "Don’t talk about Koenma-sama that way!" She glared at him.

     Yusuke got up and rubbed his head. "Ow! That hurt! And we are here to help you protect Aohiki!" he yelled at Mitsukai.

     Mitsukai crossed her arms. "Like I said, we don’t need your help." She glared at the five of them. "Especially from two guys with low reiki, and two Reikai pet yokai!"

     "I think the pet part was unnecessary." Hiei said while glaring at her.

     "But if you had your way, you’d be ruling the Ningenkai right now." She said, as she started to get pissed off. Hiei crossed his arms. "Hn." He didn’t like being reminded of the fact that he had been beaten by Yusuke. "Oh come on! I can read all of your minds! I know how pathetic you all are!" She declared.

     Aohiki smirked. Apparently, Mitsukai was very protective. "Anyway, we have to go now. If we ever nee your help, we’ll just call on you guys, alright? See ya!" She turned to leave.

     "Wait!" Botan called out. Aohiki turned around, a bit annoyed. "Not to contradict you, Kiragi-sama, but our orders from Koenma-sama say that we must stick with you at all times." She tried to convince Aohiki.

     "Oniisama refuses to let me do anything! Over protective Oniisama…" Aohiki growled in response.

     Kuwabara ran forward and grabbed her hands again. "In that case, why don’t you two ladies come over to my house and have some dinner? Heh heh heh." He smiled widely.

     "Did you hear a word I just said…?" Aohiki asked him with a sweat drop. She attempted to pull her hands out of his grip again, but he was holding too hard.

     "C’mon! I insist!" He pleaded. I won’t let those two yokai beat me to ‘em! Kuwabara declared inside his brain. Mitsukai gave him a weird look. He pulled Aohiki’s hand and started to run towards the stairwell.

     "W-wait!" Aohiki called as her tail disappeared, and she grabbed Mitsukai’s hand.

     "Hey! Who invited you guys here?!" Kuwabara yelled at Yusuke, Botan, Hiei, and especially Kurama as they eat their dinner at the Kuwabara house.

     Shizuru lit up a cigarette. "So, who are all your kiddie friends, Kazu?" She asked Kuwabara uncaringly.

     "Why did I come here again? Oh…" Mitsukai glared at Hiei and Kurama. "I had to protect Hana-chan from you yokai!" She crossed her arms.

     "What’s all this talk about yokai?" Shizuru asked Kuwabara sarcastically.

     "N-nothing, Shizuru-san!" Botan sweat dropped, then turned and glared at Mitsukai. Mitsukai just stared at the ceiling. "Whatever…" she murmured.

     "That was delicious, Shizuru-san!" Hana said happily once she finished. Her hair was now back in its high pony tail. "Thank you very much." She smiled.

     "Hm? No problem." Shizuru responded.

     "Well, Mitsukai-chan and I had better be going now." Hana stated as she stood up. "Thank you again. Goodbye everyone." Mitsukai stood up as well.

     "No wait! Don’t go yet!" Kuwabara called, as he jumped up. "There’s still after dinner karaoke!" It was amazing, but he said this with a straight face.

     "Sorry, I want to be well rested for school tomorrow." Hana smiled as she walked toward the door, with Mitsukai following. "Smart girl," Shizuru said as she leaned back in her chair. "See you at school, Kuwabara-san and Yusuke-san!" Hana said as she and Mitsukai put on their shoes. They opened the door and walked outside. Mitsukai closed the door behind them.

     A small creature jumped into Hana’s arms as soon as they were out side. "Aoi-chan! You were waiting here for me!" Hana said to the green frog in her hands. "Good boy!" She patted Aoi-chan on the head. "Here ya go." She pulled a little pellet out of her skirt pocket and fed it to Aoi-chan. He smiled happily.

     Mitsukai just watched with her arms crossed. They had started to walk down the sidewalk. "I don’t like those yokai, Hana-chan…"

     "I noticed." Hana smiled at her friend. "You know they won’t harm us, though. Oniisama would never have put us in their care if he didn’t trust them."

     Mitsukai glared ahead of her. "But still…" she looked down. "I just can’t trust yokai…" They walked in silence for a while. After a while Mitsukai stopped suddenly. "Wait." She turned around and looked up at a tree. "Stop following us!"

     Hana turned around as well and saw Hiei jump down from the tree. "I was assigned to follow you two." He told them, not caring at all.

     Mitsukai recrossed her arms. "We don’t need to be baby-sat! I have powers! I can protect Hana-chan just fine! Not like a heartless yokai would know anything about protecting anyone!" She glared at him. "Leave us alone!"

     Hiei was glaring death at her, especially after her comment about not knowing how to protect anyone. A strange black static energy flicked around his right hand.

     "Mitsukai-chan! Calmness! Hiei said he was assigned to us, don’t bother him. Just as long as he doesn’t peep while we’re changing for bed." Hana smiled at Hiei. He calmed himself down, and the black energy disappeared.

     "You’re perverted…" Mitsukai mumbled. "Just don’t do anything!" she yelled at Hiei.

     "Shall we go in?" Hana asked them as they came up to the apartment they were living in temporarily. She pulled out her key and opened the door to the apartment.

     "Okay." Mitsukai followed Hana in. I’ll be watching you, yokai.

     You do that. I still don't trust you. Mitsukai set her school bag down on the table.

     "Mitsukai-chan, why don’t you change first? I have to check the news paper." Hana asked with her usual smile. Mitsukai thought about it.

     Damn you! "I’m still watching you with my telepathy!" She announced to Hiei as she glared at him and walked into the adjacent bedroom.

     Hiei was annoyed. Damn girl.

     Hana picked up the newspaper off the table and started looking through it.

     "…………" Hiei just stared at her.

     Hana sighed and put the newspaper down. She looked up at Hiei and smiled.

     Hiei was getting annoyed again. "What do you want, ningen girl?"

     "I, uh… wanted to apologize about embarrassing you before." She said, smiling.

     "Hn…" he glared at her.

     "I really hope we can put it behind us and be friends." She continued to smile.

     "………….."

     "You know, it really hurts me that you don’t like me? Calling me an unimportant ningen girl…" She looked down, trying to still smile.

     "But you are a ningen girl." Hiei replied as he crossed his arms. "And is that green bubble the best attack you have?"

     Mitsukai walked in and leaned against the wall, with her arms crossed. She still had her hair back, but was now in large, dark blue pajamas. "Respect Aohiki-sama!" She yelled at Hiei as she glared at him.

     "I’m not Kurama. I don’t do the ‘respect’ thing." He glared at her.

     Mitsukai stopped glaring for a second, and seemed to be thinking of something. Then she seemed to be even angrier, and went back to glaring at Hiei.

     "Hn!" Hiei just said in response.

     "Hiei! Mitsukai-chan! I want you to shake hands and agree to work together!" Hana commanded them. Mitsukai shook her head and stood up. "No way! I hate all yokai!"

     "I don’t need to work with anyone." Hiei declared.

     It was the first time Hana had glared, but she was glaring at them. "Do it."

     "Fine." Mitsukai exclaimed. She stepped forward and held out her hand. Hiei glared at her poisonously. "Whatever…" He shook hands with her, and then quickly pulled his hand back. He went back to glaring. Mitsukai leaned back against the wall, and crossed her arms. She too glared.

     "Good! Now that we are all agreed to cooperate with each other, we can at least try to be friends, ne…?" Hana went back to her usual smile.

     "Friends? With a ningen girl? Ha! You act as if I need friends." Hiei said with a mocking smile.

     "But what about the Reikai Tantei? I thought you liked them?" Hana asked, looking sad.

     "Then you have a lot to learn. And at least they are useful for something. Not like a pathetic ningen girl who thinks she has powers to help the world." Hiei declared as if he was always right.

     "Hiei…" Hana sighed. Mitsukai stood up and prepared to hold up her hand.

     Hiei walked toward the door before she could do anything. "You’re not worth protecting." He prepared to walk outside, but Hana held up her own hand in the direction of Hiei. "The green bubble is not my best attack…" She told him as her eyes watered.

     Hiei looked back at her and stepped back as is he had been hit in the stomach. He fell over onto the floor. He was trembling as he coughed up blood. "Damn you… ningen girl…" He said weakly, as he coughed up more blood.

     "And that wasn’t the best I have." Hana’s voice changed from angry to worried. "Am I really so useless… Hiei…?" She walked over to the bedroom door, and walked inside, closing the door behind herself.

     Mitsukai watched her until the door closed, then turned back to Hiei. Her eyes were blazing. It was her turn to glare death at him. She walked up to him and kicked him in the stomach. "You heartless bastard!"

     Hiei coughed up more blood. "Damn you all…" He coughed.

     Mitsukai stood over him, glaring. "How dare you?! You can act a little nicer!! I don’t care if you treat me like I’m shit, but at least be nicer to Hana-chan!!!!!" She glared at him some more, and stopped to catch her breath. "If you do that again," She turned around and walked over to the bedroom door. "I swear I’ll kill you." She opened the door and walked into the bedroom.

     "Waah!" Hana exclaimed. She pulled her shirt on. "You could have knocked first, Mitsukai-chan." She smiled weakly.

     "Hm?" Mitsukai looked at her. "Were you crying?"

     Hana looked down. "I’m going to check on Hiei…" She walked past Mitsukai toward the door.

    "What? Why?" Mitsukai turned around and looked at her worriedly.

     Hana’s hand hovered over the door knob. "He’s really hurt. Can’t you sense it, too?" Mitsukai just glared at the door, and crossed her arms. Hana smiled and opened the door. "Oh! Hiei!" She exclaimed as she ran over, and dropped down beside him. "He’s unconscious! How hard did you kick him?" She then made a pathetic attempt to lift Hiei onto the couch.

     Mitsukai sighed. "Oh, if you’re going to do that, let me help!" She lifted her hand and Hiei floated onto the couch. "But I still don’t like him!"

     "I know. But… I really don’t think he’s evil." Hana replied as she walked into the small kitchen to get water.

     Mitsukai crossed her arms. "I don’t understand you. He’s a yokai!" she yelled from the other room.

     Hana came back with water. "He’s helping Oniisama!" She said desperately to Mitsukai. Mitsukai just looked aside. "Whatever…"

     Hana finished treating Hiei and yawned. "Let’s go to bed." She said as she walked back into the bedroom.

     Mitsukai woke up first in the morning. She got up and walked into the living room. "Hm. Figures he’d bail! Especially after getting beaten up so bad." She looked out the window; the sun was just barely rising. "Yokai… they’re so weak." She looked back at the vacant couch. "What?!" She spun around suddenly, and looked around suspiciously. "What the hell is that…?" She whispered. She ran towards the bed room suddenly, but was knocked back into the table. "No…" she slumped over and fell unconscious.

     "No! Get away!" Hana screamed as she sat up in her bed. She held her hand out. What?! It’s not working! She thought as she fell over, unconscious.

     Hiei sat up in a tree outside. "What?!" He jumped down off the tree and ran up to the door. "They’re in trouble!" He then was knocked back by an invisible force field. "What?!" The door sprang open, he ran inside, and then quickly looked around. "Damn! They’re gone!" He crossed his arms. "Koenma is going to kill me."

     "It’s Hiei. So, damn ningen! They went and got themselves kidnapped by who knows what! And now we have to save them before Koenma kills me. Hn! Like he could though! So, next time we have to go looking for the annoying ningen. And save them from whatever the hell wants to kill them. I should never have agreed to help that damned Reikai Tantei!"
